After a moment, light begins to spill between your fingers. When you remove your hands, your surroundings are illuminated. 

This spell creates a light, either in your hand, or in a specially prepared item. The light shines like a torch, shedding bright light in a 20 ft radius and dim light for an additional 20 ft.

This effect is cancelled by darkness spells of a higher tier.

Material Component: A specially prepared crystal, infused with sunlight and set in brass. Many wizards set such crystals atop their staves.
